Full Day Training
Computer Crime "Boot Camp"
This training day includes practically all of the content I present in reference to computer crime. This is focused toward adults that work with technology and desire to keep their personal and business information safe from criminals. An abbreviated version of the Internet Safety seminar will identify the key concerns for parents of Internet savvy children. The following schedule can be modified to fit your event. This day can be modified to present the topics of your choice. Organizations have used this training as their staff appreciation day, executive training, and yearly employee conferences.
How to Protect Yourself and Your Organization from Computer Crime
This popular session focuses on recent trends of online fraud, internet scams, and ways that suspects steal identity. The presentation includes the details of how hackers commit their crimes and what any person or business can do to protect themselves. The audience will learn immediately how password hackers, debit card skimmers, key loggers, email scams, cellular telephones, security questions, meta data, and file sharing networks are an emerging threat against them. Live examples of 'hacking' into information will shock the audience, while detailed solutions will be displayed on how to stop the threat. Free software applications will be presented toward the end of the session.

Locating Personal Information Online
This presentation will show the audience how to "dig" into the internet for personal information about themselves, their children, or others. While popular sites such as MySpace and Facebook are covered in great detail, including the ability to access "private" sites, the presentation goes much deeper into the vast resources available online for researching personal information. The information gathered will give a surprising glimpse of what anyone with an internet connection can find out about you! Over 180 sources of online information will be discussed. Aside from web sites, other technology such as digital camera data, document meta data, and data mining companies will be explained. Here is a partial list of resources that will be explained and tested live.
Part I: 11:00am-12:00pm |
Lunch: 12:00pm-1:00pm |
Part II: 1:00pm-2:30pm |
Eliminating Traces of your identity on the Internet
This presentation acknowledges that way too much information is available about each and every one of us on the Internet. The focus is eliminating as much information as we can. The audience will observe each step of this process and learn the results of the attempts. A sample of some of the sites that will be demonstrated is located at THIS LINK. This presentation is a great starting point to understanding how data mining sites are collecting your information. This approach will create awareness with the audience of the way our habits help those that sell our information.
Break: 2:30pm-2:45pm |
Session: 2:45pm-3:45pm |
Q&A/Demo: 3:45pm-4:00pm |
Child Safety on the Internet for Parents
This abbreviated session discusses how predators lure children into becoming victims and how parents can stop this from happening. I go way beyond what has been seen on Dateline's 'To Catch a Predator"'. I also cover Cell Phones, MySpace, FaceBook, Cyber Bullying, Chat Rooms, and other forms of communication that predators use. Most of this session is conducted live on the Internet with real examples of the procedures discussed. Parents will gain a deeper understanding of the advanced dangers on the internet, and acquire useful knowledge of simple steps that can be taken to prevent their children from becoming victims. Teens will see real life examples of what happens when they let their guard down. While many students realize that predators are present, they do not realize the amount of information a predator can receive without contact with the victim. I discuss photos on the internet and advanced ways that predators use search engines to stalk their prey. I also have versions of this session for only parents or teens.
